WATERWAY VEGETATION MANAGEMENT
For ditch bank and levee mowing, compare the bank profile, ground condition, access route and vegetation before selecting a remote-controlled mower. A machine's catalog slope figure does not establish safe travel beside water. Start with a marked site plan and a model-specific operating review.

A drainage ditch, a flood-defence embankment and a landscaped pond bank have different responsibilities. Define the asset and ask its manager which surfaces may carry equipment, where vegetation must remain and what finish supports inspection. Separate mowing accessible grass from clearing woody growth or vegetation in the channel.
The Environment Agency's flood-asset guidance, section 1.6 links grass cutting to erosion resistance and visual inspection. It includes remote-controlled mowers among methods for steep or restricted sites. This is general asset-management guidance for England; it is not approval of a particular mower or working route.
Show crest, toe, waterline, drains, culverts, fences and access gates. Mark the narrowest passage and areas where the operator can maintain visibility.
Record local changes in slope, moisture, ruts, cracks, erosion and soft patches. Include normal conditions and conditions after rainfall.
Send grass height, density, stem sizes and photographs. Identify debris and growth concealing holes or damaged bank surfaces.
Tracks alone do not answer that question. The quoted machine, soil support, grip, travel direction, turning space and recovery arrangements all matter. Establish when work must stop or be deferred with the asset manager and the machine instructions. Keep equipment away from unassessed edges and damaged sections.
HSE's guidance on self-propelled vehicles explains that wet ground and ruts can alter slope stability. Its vehicle examples do not establish limits for TRAKVON machines. Use the slope assessment checklist to describe the actual worksite and distinguish degrees from percent grade.

900 MM CUTTING WIDTH
The 608-90A is one configuration to compare when reviewing access and cutting width. Gate openings, turns and the return route matter as well as the mowing strip.
Product photograph for identification; not a waterway project case study.
Read the 608-90A specificationsUse these catalog figures to screen access requirements. None of the rows establishes suitability for a wet bank or a particular edge. Review the complete six-model comparison and the selected model's operating instructions.
| Model | Cutting width | Machine L × W × H | Site question to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| 195-80YC | 800 | 1630 × 950 × 700 | Can the longer body turn and return within the permitted route? |
| 608-90A | 900 | 1400 × 1300 × 630 | Is there enough supported ground for the full body and working clearance? |
| 810-130A | 1300 | 1430 × 1710 × 680 | Does the wider machine fit the access and the usable mowing strip? |
Model dimensions are from the linked product specifications. Operating slope depends on the model and site conditions; a maximum angle alone does not resolve bearing capacity or edge stability.
Agree on cutting height, timing, clippings and sensitive areas with the asset manager. The Environment Agency's explanation of flood-defence mowing describes why vegetation maintenance has an asset-protection purpose. Do not substitute a tidy-looking finish for the site's maintenance plan.
Include a parts and support plan for remote sites. Price, freight and warranty details are recorded in the specific quotation.
It changes where the operator stands, but the machine still needs an assessed route, suitable ground and a supervised operating procedure. Remote control does not remove bank collapse, slipping or thrown-object hazards.
There is no universal distance on this website. Have the asset manager assess the bank and agree on an exclusion boundary using the machine's instructions and site conditions. Mark that boundary in your site brief.
Identify the vegetation and cutting assembly first. Grass mowing specifications do not establish woody-stem or aquatic cutting capacity. Send photographs and stem dimensions when requesting a configuration.
Send the route, slope, surface conditions and vegetation with your destination.
In California, the Caltrans-sponsored study observed Spider mower demonstrations on levees at Marysville and West Sacramento. Mowing enabled levee inspection; the demonstration included a tethered configuration. See the U.S. report, p. 44, Figure 5.11. This illustrates a levee-maintenance use, not testing of TRAKVON equipment.

Measure usable strips at the toe and crest, the bank angle, and the entry and recovery route. Compare dimensions and catalog figures with the exact operating manual and site assessment.
Slope figures are supplier catalog comparison values. The source sheet does not state travel direction, ground, moisture or load. Check the quoted build and model-specific operating instructions; no row in this table is a site suitability recommendation.
